Cracking The Southwell All Weather Code

Southwell AW Code Breaker

My attempt to Crack The AW Code At Southwell on this evening's eight race card that features no less than seven handicaps from the 8 on the offer. This is a good thing ~ much prefer the handicaps.

❖ Jockeys ❖ I will be scrutinising the rides Hector Crouch 𝕏 has booked ~ he has a 23% strike rate here this season currently. He has three rides booked.

Additionally, Mr Maverick himself Jamie Spencer 𝕏 has a 23% strike rate here this season also, so he knows the track, that's for sure. He has a couple of rides worth scrutinising.

❖ Draw Bias ❖ The draw bias at Southwell is non existent. Back who you like wherever they're drawn. If backing any front runners, pay close attention to whether you think they have the ability to actually get home up the slightly uphill 1.5f finish.

Southwell Betting Analysis

6:00 Southwell ❖ 1m C4 3yo Hcp ❖ Deported (5/1) has an obvious chance, even as a odds on beaten fav last time.

Conclusion: Last time out ~ 8/11 beaten fav in a lower grade race than today's, means we get a reasonable price. The Sangster yard will certainly be expecting a better run from the horse and Spencer too.

❖ The easier track at Southwell should provide the type of gallop needed, rather than the tricky Wolverhampton he ran on last time out.


6:00 South ~ Win Bet: 5/1 Deported (4th 7/1)

6:30 Southwell ❖ 6f C5 3yo Hcp ❖ Fanjove (7/1) is the one they have to beat I say.

Conclusion: Returns after a 6 month break. Looks to me the horse only knows how to run well looking at his form figures. I expect the Dunlop yard have him ready to go. Crouch will do thr steering. I think he's fav material, so I'll take the 7/1 on offer all day.

7:00 Southwell ❖ 1m C4 3yo Hcp ❖ Uniting (7/1) The Racing Mile Series Final Handicap has been rescheduled from the fixture at Chelmsford the BHA vetoed last week.

Conclusion: The galloping track at Chelmsford would have suited Uniting. I think the switch to Southwell will be right up his street due to the course similarities.

❖ I expect a big run. I am betting Jamie Spencer works the oeracle in the big race, with hold up tactics and a late flourish, as he's been known to do before ~ and then some.
