◢ The 2010 Grand National was won by 10/1 joint-favourite Don’t Push It, trained by Jonjo O’Neill and ridden by Tony McCoy. Finishing second was Black Apalachi at 14/1, trained by Dessie Hughes and ridden by Denis O’Regan, 5 lengths behind. Third place went to State of Play at 16/1, trained by Evan Williams and ridden by Paul Moloney, a further 20 lengths back. Winner: Neptune Collonges (33/1) 2nd: Sunnyhillboy (16/1) 3rd: Seabass (8/1jf) 4th: Cappa Bleu (16/1)

◢ The 2012 Grand National was won by 33/1 outsider Neptune Collonges, trained by Paul Nicholls and ridden by Daryl Jacob. Second was Sunnyhillboy at 16/1, trained by Jonjo O’Neill and ridden by Richie McLernon, beaten by a nose in the closest finish in race history. Of the 39 starters, 19 finished. This was Tony McCoy’s final Grand National ride, finishing fifth on Shutthefrontdoor, capping a 20-year career at the race before his retirement.

Of the 40 starters, 19 finished. Tiger Roll became the first horse since Red Rum (1973-74) to win consecutive Grand Nationals, but the race was marred by the fatal fall of Up For Review at the first fence.

◾ A.P. McCoy Finally Wins▸ Legendary jockey A.P. McCoy won his first Grand National at his 15th attempt, riding Don't Push It. Despite being a household name for over a decade, this was the elusive race he hadn’t yet conquered ~ cementing his status as one of the sport’s all~time greats.

◢ 2012 Grand National (14 April 2012)▸
◾ Tragedy Prompts Overhaul▸ Two horses, Synchronised and According To Pete, suffered fatal injuries ~ leading to major course safety reforms. Fence structures were softened, drops reduced, and post-race veterinary protocols improved ~ shaping the modern, more welfare conscious National.
