4:15 Sagatuer (16/1) is 1 run, 1 win, over the 12f here at Newcastle. A 2 length win carrying 4lb less, at 22/1. Luke Morris takes the ride today. He has a decent enough draw in trap 3. He'll need to get out on terms and track the leaders up the inside to have a chance of being in striking range.

The even money hotpot King Viktor is on a treble after 2 wins at Southwell. This ain't Southwell though, that's the chink in the King's armour. Sagatuer can run them down at big odds again, if he competes like he did on his only C&D run to date. Cheers, Sandracer.

5:15 The once 96 rated, class 1 competitor To The Bar (18/1 from 8/1) takes on a class 6 field of handicappers, carrying 64. 61 if you take into account Christian Howarth claims 3lb. 1st time cheekpieces applied today.

Obviously the horse has had a rough time, he hasn't won for 3 years, so why back him? On his 4th try for the Alice Haynes yard in 2 months, he raced wide, took it up, still led with a furlong to go, got collared up the run in. If and when he gets fit and all is well, he'll run all up and down over this kind of opposition before breakfast.

5:45 8yo Light Up Our Stars (22/1) has won multiple AW handicaps for Scott Dixon from around today's mark of 69. Beaten 2.5 lengths carrying a 1lb more in a class 4 last time up, at 22/1, I'm happy to take 22's on him in a class 5 from a lb less today. 1st time tongue strap applied.

4:20 8yo Gold Standard (20/1) was competing off of 62 two years ago. Today his mark is 46. Promising 7lb claimer Jack Doughty takes the ride for the first time. I make that he carries 39.

I thought I detected a possible return to form last race. If you forget the winner, who has rifled in a treble this month, he was beaten a staying on 4 lengths.

Having his 3rd run this month over a mile+, it looks like Tony Carroll might be running this one into form, on the racetrack, in public. So I'm taking the 20's. Cheers, Sandracer.

6:15 Street Life (25/1) won a couple of races ago so is running well. He's won here over the 5f from today's mark. 7lb claimer Jack Enright takes the ride. If the young jockey makes no mistakes, the 7lb could be the difference.

### Street Life was trading at 8/1 yesterday. Today he's at 25's. Nice.

6:45 Bottom weight Blackcurrent (28/1) won't be far away if he gets out of the traps well from stall 2. The drift in the betting from 6/1 out to 28/1 is a bit strange. He runs in these AW sprint handicap races all the time and hardly ever reaches double figures. Maybe he's got the hump. I'm on either way. Win only. Cheers, Sandracer.

11:55 10yo Arzaak (40/1) goes well enough here whenever he gets the opportunity. 3 weeks ago he was placed at 25/1. The 40/1 on offer today is worth a nibble. You can get 100/1 on the exchanges, so I've halved my usual stake. Cheers, Sandracer.

6:00 Covert Mission (16/1) is an out and out front runner who bursts out and wins, when he's in form. He's done it over the mile here, from higher than today's mark, from today's draw, usually between 2 and 4/1.

### Why he's out to 16's today is anyone's guess.

1:45 Rivas Rob Roy (20/1) sits back and picks off whoever he can catch late on. His last couple of races he's been in striking distance, but didn't find much when asked. That's why he's a 20/1 no hoper.

Drawn in trap 3 at Lingfield today, he'll get a run up the inside, where you want to be, all the way round, and will try to pounce late from bottom weight.

Is he fit enough to go forward at the business end, not backwards? This is his 3rd run of the month. He's fit alright I'd say. 20's just might be too big. Cheers, Sandracer.

6:00 Homer Stokes (16/1) won a couple of these 7f handicaps at Southwell on the bounce 5 months ago. He returns after a break with 4lb more to contend with.

It's a grade 5 hcp, not 6, so the opposition is a bit stronger. He receives weight instead of giving it away. Not only that, he has a C&D win off of 74 to his name a couple of years back, so I doubt he'll get outclassed.

6:30 I backed Whatwouldyouknow (25/1) 3 days ago at 12/1 to win an identical race, ie a mile class 6 handicap, carrying 61. Sat behind the leaders and when popped the question, weakened in the last furlong. He last won one of these races 2 months ago rated at the 60 mark.

I highly doubt Nigel Tinkler has sent the horse 90 miles up the motorway, so soon, for a laugh. He's gone in again for a reason, so I'll take the double in price and see if the Tinkler yard can pull it off. They know what they're doing.


7:00 Showmedemoney (25/1) is currently running a few lengths off his best. He has won a 1m handicap here from today's mark of 65 before. He was 2/1 that day. Today you can get 25/1 he finds his feet and does it again. That's racing. Cheers, Sandracer.

8:15 I'm Mable (14/1) is competing more than a stone lower than her highest mark. That said, she hasn't run badly lately. She keeps getting beat by a couple of lengths or so. When she finds her best form, she's going to run up a quick treble in a month maybe, probably on the AW sprint circuit.

The 14/1 on offer is a decent price today's her day. The 5/1 she was tissued at by some race readers, or the 6/1 she opened up at yesterday are nearer the mark, in my estimation. Cheers, Sandracer.
