Winter Derby - Lingfield 2007

The Lingfield £100,000 valued Winter Derby trials start today. The all-weather marquee event will be run on March 24, 2007.

The biggest name entrant is Epsom Derby winner Sir Percy. Note: Marcus Tregoning's colt Sir Percy will only run in the biggest race of the season at the Lingfield polytrack if he does not go in the Dubai World Cup Sheema Classic, run on the sand at Nad Al Sheba (march 31).

The other top entrants out of the 40 include the Illustrious Blue (William Knight), Mighty (Jane Chapple-Hyam), the unbeaten All-weather racer Gentleman's Deal and Alan Swinbank's Alfie Flats. Jim Bolger entered Heliostatic, winner of the Gp3 Meld Stakes run at Leopardstown. 3 entries came in from Ireland and 2 are French, but Sir Percy is the big name horse for sure.
