Ladbrokes David Williams reporting on the launch of the AW Chamipionships said in part, "As partners in the All Weather Championships, we can hand over the money to ARC and hope for the best or we can work with everyone involved – including the racecourse, the horsemen, the media and just as importantly, Ladbrokes customers".
Sandracer Comment: Personally, I don't see it benefiting the punter much. Yeah, more money for the track, the trainers, the jockeys and more exposure for the bookies. What do the punters get?
Better class races aren't going to make the betting shop punter any better off. Most don't know the difference, or indeed care. The bookies aren't going to stand bigger bets from the cleverer punters. Too many can't get on these days. I saw no promotions relating to prices regarding the AW Championships opening night either. Free tickets to get in won't affect 99.9% of the punters out there in the shops or on the internet.
Nothing is going to change for the punter I'm afraid. We shall see.
