Newcastle AW Code Breaker

This afternoon's AW meeting is an 8 race twilight card from Newcastle. 6 handicap races, one of them is an apprentice only handicap. I will be attempting to Crack The All Weather Code At Newcastle in as few words as possible.

❖ Jockeys ❖ For this afternoon's meeting I will be focusing Irishman Paul Mulrennan 𝕏. He has 5 rides to look into. I will also scour the 5lb claimer Jack Callan and his four rides, he's well worth his claim.

❖ Trainer ❖ No particular trainer catches my eye.

❖ Draw Bias ❖ The draw bias at Newcastle is non existent, especially on the straight course, so nothing to see there.

Newcastle Betting Analysis

3:28 Newcastle ❖ 1m 2f C4 Hcp ❖ Knockbrex (10/1) if he's fit after an 8 month break, with Callan's claim, could well win this outright. The Johnstone team are always trying. I have to presume the horse is ready.

I rarely back horses running without a recent run, but sometimes a double figure price can take the eye.

5:45 Newcastle ❖ 5f C6 Hcp ❖ Pockley (6/1) epitomises the C6 handicap horse. His last run just has to be ignored ~ I see mention of a unclear run ~ not for me, he just did very little either way..

The one before it takes this, even with a 10lb rise. The 5/1 ~ 6/1 is reasonable with Mulrennan aboard imo. I make him about a 3/1fav personally.

6:45 Newcastle ❖ 6f C4 Hcp ❖ Arnhem (16/1) may have been overlooked judging by the prices. He has comparable Irish form at Dundalk at this level. Went ok under Goldie's apprentice Lauren Young. I am sure Mulrennan will be a bit more aggressive early on today. He could well just trouble them all at a price if he can race a bit nearer than out the back this time.

He's worth a speculative, small stake, win only poke. 25/1 on the exchanges should be very gettable.
