Race Overview: A poor affair in which Golden Spectrum is preferred to Windy Prospect and Machinate. Golden Spectrum is far from the most eyecatching of creatures but he has been running solidly at this level over the winter and having chased home two useful performers on his most recent start, that level of form might be good enough here. Windy Prospect was due to run in a seller at the course on Saturday so it remains to be seen as to whether we will see him take this engagement. Machinate was an expensive failure over seven furlongs on his latest outing and is finding winning difficult. Hits Only Cash is invariably well supported although he often leaves himself too much to do at the business end of matters. Western Roots last run at Warwick can be forgiven as he does not act on turf. Smart Cassie makes a first run for a new trainer having campaigned over sprint trips when with Derek Shaw. Golden Spectrum does not win too often but today could be the day.
