Race Overview: In a juvenile contest that looks sure to throw up plenty of subsequent winners, a chance is taken that the experience of Fitzroy Crossing will prove decisive on this occasion, with Drawnfromthepast, Hold That Call, Shannersburg and Yem Kinn all worth nothing. Only Fitzroy Crossing has seen the racecourse of the 11 that line up here, and Mark Johnston's colt will hopefully make that count today. The son of Cozzene hails from a family packed with sprinters, and judged on his promising effort at Hamilton six days ago, he should have the speed to take a hand here. It is interesting that connections send him here rather than give him time to recover for a possible appearance at the Dante meeting next week, and the feeling is that his fitness will prove decisive. Mind you, it would be no surprise if one of the others turned out to be above average; Jamie Osborne has been in terrific form with his two-year-olds, so Drawnfromthepast, entered in all the big sales races this year, has to be kept in mind, while Hold That Call is another whose trainer has plenty of ammunition in this department. So does Mick Channon (Yem Kinn) and Eoghan O'Neill (Shannersburg), so it could be that the market will prove a further pointer. However, the vote goes to experience over potential, with Fitzroy Crossing the pick.
