Race Overview: A pin would come in handy here, and only a narrow vote goes to King Of Argos over last year's winner Partners In Jazz, with Dabbers Ridge, Beaver Patrol and Capable Guest just a few more in with a shout. With no less than 29-runners declared, finding the winner is not going to be easy, but you could not help but be impressed by the manner of King Of Argos's effortless victory at Windsor last month. Jamie Spencer rode the four-year-old with the utmost confidence as he surged though from the rear on the bridle to score, and although upped 11lb as a result, Ed Dunlop's charge, drawn high in stall 21, must surely be in with a big chance of following up. David Barron has his team in great shape, and that augurs well for the chance of Partners In Jazz who has had just one outing since coming out on top last year. That was on the all-weather three weeks ago, and it looks as though he has been laid out for this again. Drawn high, he should go close off only a slightly higher mark, while Dabbers Ridge has winning form over track-and-trip and hails from an in-form stable. That should offset the fact that he lines up without a run, and he too goes on the short-list. Beaver Patrol won well at Newmarket last week and is turned out quickly by Eve Johnson Houghton, while Capable Guest showed his well being at Sandown a fortnight ago, and his stamina will come in handy in what is sure to be a cavalry charge. They then are just a few likely contenders, with King Of Argos getting the nod.
