2007 Derby Betting Odds - Non Runner No Bet - Stakes Returned If Your Horse Does Not Run
Noel Pinder has tipped Authorized to win in his 2007 Derby preview, written when the horse was available to back on the ante post markets at 6/4. Now Authorized is a 4/5 odds on shot with the housewife's choice Frankie Dettori aboard, some punters may start looking elsewhere amongst the Derby field for a bit of value.
Alot of Derby opinion, alot of Derby hopes, alot of everything when it comes to the Blue Riband, but Authorized does look good, I must admit. However, Authorized is no Shergar and is unlikely to be good enough to turn the 2007 Derby into a cakewalk. Aqaleem and Archipenko sit as 8/1 joint 2nd favourites at the moment. Neither of those horses at those odds interest me.
Yellowstone 40/1 - Each Way. I personally rarely ever bet each-way, but punters looking for an each way interest, could do worse than a small wager on the Aidan O'Brien trained Yellowstone at an incredible 40/1 at Blue Square and Ladbrokes. Yellowstone stayed on quite well late behind Archipenko in the 1 mile 2 furlong Leopardstown Derrinstown Derby Trial, and could well run a big race at big odds staying on over the extra 2 furlong Derby distance. If the horse can go the pace early on the soft ground, Yellowstone may be troublesome at the finish at ridiculous odds.
Atleast the Ante Post betting stage is over. Betting shops will return your stake if your Derby horse is a non runner.

In just two weeks time the Epsom Downs will be packed to the rafters with wide-eyed punters, eagerly awaiting this year's Blue Riband, "The Derby". The final major trial took place at York earlier this week, and so, as Sir David Frost would say, "All the clues are there",
With the defection of Teofilo, Authorized became what you might call a surrogate favourite. However, following a scintillating performance in the Dante, he is now a worthy market leader. What is most frightening for his rivals is that, according to reports, he wasn't 100% fit! We may have a new superstar in our midst.
Now what of his rivals? Marcus Tregoning knows what it takes to land the "big one", having saddled last year's winner Sir Percy. His entry Aqaleem displayed much improved form to land the Lingfield Derby trial with a terrific turn of foot and he is still open to further progression. Aidan O'Brien probably had more original entries than anyone and still holds a strong contigent. The pick of his runners looks to be impressive Derrinstown Stud winner Archipenko, but his outsiders have been popping up in some of the big races and so it is hard to select anything of his with confidence.
One trainer seeking his first success in the big race is David Elsworth, who holds Salford Mill in very high regard. This son of Peintre Celebre was aclear cut winner of a Listed race at Newmarket last time and is David's best chance of landing the prize for many a year.
There are one or two others to consider, including Strategic Prince, who was staying on at one pace in the Guineas, but after absorbing all the information available we have to give you the clearance to back Authorized.
The previous ante post 2007 Epsom Derby favourite Authorized has been chopped across the board by all bookmakers to around the 6/4 mark from 4/1, after an impressive display first time out this season in The 1m2f Dante on the Knavesmire (york racecourse) today.
Jockey Frankie Dettori is confident Authorized will stay the 1m4f Derby distance. Dettori will ride Authorized in the Derby after permission from the Godolphin Stable came through today. Dettori is their retained stable jockey, but Godolphin have released him to ride Authorized, as Frankie has never won a derby throughout his illustrious riding career.

The Epsom Oaks is a 1 mile 4 furlong classic for 3 year old fillies only. The 2007 Vodafone Epsom Derby Festival runs from Friday June 1 to Saturday June 2, 2007. The Oaks goes at 3pm on the 1st of June, 2007.

2007 Epsom Derby Grandstand Tickets Virtually Sold Out Already
The Grandstand Enclosure at Epsom Downs Racecourse on Derby Day is virtually sold out, with only a couple of hundred Grandstand tickets and reserved seat packages left.
Stephen Wallis, Managing Director of Epsom Downs Racecourse, said; "We alerted everybody to the fact that the Grandstand would have a lower capacity than normal due our building programme, and indeed our regular customers have responded earlier than normal because of this. Our safety advisers allowed us to sell more Grandstand tickets than we originally anticipated but even these have now gone."
The Racecourse knew that there would be other regular Derby Day racegoers who want to come, have missed out on the Grandstand, but don't want to go on The Hill. It has therefore created a new improved pedestrian offer in part of the Upper Tattenham Enclosure which will be called the "Tattenham Straight." Tickets for this area cost £15 and are available through our Ticket Office (01372 470047) or online by clicking on the TICKETS option in the left hand column.
The Tattenham Straight pedestrian area will have live music, food and drink with access to the rails and the bookmakers. Within the Tattenham Straight the Racecourse have also created the "Tattenham Picnic Package Area" where racegoers can enjoy both a Carluccio's pre-ordered picnic and picnic tables.
Queen's Stand Memberships are also still available to purchase.
Vodafone Ladies Day is on Friday, 1st June and Vodafone Derby Day is on Saturday, 2nd June. Epsom Downs Racecourse is strongly advising racegoers to book their tickets for both Ladies Day and Derby Day well in advance.
16/1 Ante Post Bet Regime Is Ready To Run In The 2007 Derby
Michael Bell trained 16/1 ante post bet Regime is ready to run well already, so will not race again until the 2007 Epsom Derby according to the Highclere Thoroughbred Racing manager Harry Herbert.
He does go straight for the Derby," said Herbert, who organises the owning syndicate.
"He was a very useful two-year-old last year and we were disappointed he ran so badly in the Racing Post Trophy but he was definitely over the top and the soft ground didn't help.

The Epsom Derby is a mile and a half (1m4f) group 1 race for 3 year old colts and fillies, although very few fillies run in the derby these days. The Epsom Derby is the 2nd leg of the English Triple Crown consisting of the 2000 Guineas, the Derby and the Coronation Cup.
