Just two weeks until the start of the Cheltenham festival and here are my main ante post selections. (noel pinder - stablewhisper blog)
Starluck (4th 5/1) (triumph hurdle) (13/2 7/1 @ Ladbrokes) The Triumph hurdle has the look of a very classy affair with Zaynar and Walk On two highly talented and progressive four-year-olds. However Starluck is the one for me. The manner of his victories suggest there is plenty more to come and if he was with a top yard I'm sure he would be a lot shorter price.
Tatenen (Fell) (the arkle) (5/1 @ William Hill) Tatenen could be a good thing for the Arkle. Ignore his run in Ireland there was no pace and he wasn't going an inch. His previous efforts were faultless and the trainer is bullish about his chances.
Cant Buy Time Non Runner (william hill trophy) Jonjo O'Neill did me a big favour with Albertas Run last year and Cant Buy Time, from the same yard, can win us money this time around. Anybody who saw the ease with which he won at Sandown cannot possibly oppose this one in the William Hill Trophy.
With the festival just a few days away I thought I would give you my main hopes. You can usually find me at The Horse Whispers Weblog, my name is Noel Pinder.
♥ Albertas Run (Royal and Sun Alliance Chase) (Won 4/1 Fav) Albertas Run has already done us a massive favour and Jonjo's charge looks set for a big run in the Royal and Sun Alliance Chase. He has always been held in high regard and having won in great style last time out he could still be on the upgrade.
Noland (The Arkle) (3rd 7/4 Fav) Paul Nicholls has brought Noland along nicely in a bid to have him spot on for the Arkle. There is no doubt we haven't seen the best of this one yet.
♥ Celestial Halo (Triumph Hurdle) (Won 5/1) There could be more success for Paul in the Triumph Hurdle with Celestial Halo. Beaten just over three lengths in the St Leger, he then won impressively on his hurdles debut. His latest defeat against an older horse may turn out to be very good form and back against his own generation he should make them all go.
Sentry Duty (Ballymore OR The Supreme Novices) (Unplaced 11/1) The horse in question was Sentry Duty, who is entered in the Ballymore and the Supreme Novices, he has a strong chance in whichever event he goes for.
The World Hurdle is run over 3 miles and takes in 12 hurdles on the New Course at Cheltenham racecourse. 4 year old horses and above may enter the race.

I don't often bet on jumps racing, but I do like to go for a few unfancied outsiders at Cheltenham. Today is the Festival trial day, so keep your eyes peeled jumps fans. The Cheltenham Festival this year runs from Tuesday the 11th to Fri 14th March.

4:25 Cheltenham (Hurdle) Trouble At Bay. (Unplaced 9/1) in touch, hit 5th, went 3rd next, ridden approaching 2 out, weakened approaching last, 10th.
The 2008 Cheltenham Gold Cup will be run over 3miles, 2 and a half furlongs on the new jumps course. The Gold Cup is a Grade 1 National Hunt race over 22 fences for 5 year old jumps horses and above.
5/2 9/4 ante post Gold Cup favourite Kauto Star needs no introduction. A great horse, who always manages to leave a question mark due to his habit of scaring punters who have backed the horse, by putting in an awkward jump at the last fence. Personally, I have no interest in questioning the horse. His winning record speaks for itself.
The 2007 Gold Cup runner up Exotic Dancer, is currently the joint 5/1 ante post 2nd favourite with Bet-365 following his facile win in the Betfair Bowl on the opening day of the Grand National meeting at Aintree. Denman is the other 5/1 2nd joint favourite in the ante post betting. This massive horse will be all the rage for the next year i'm sure. Whether he has the necissary agility, allied with speed and staying power to win a 3mile, 2.5 furlong Gold Cup will be interesting to see.

The 2008 Cheltenham Gold Cup will be run over 3miles, 2 and a half furlongs on the new jumps course. The Gold Cup is a Grade 1 National Hunt race over 22 fences for 5 year old jumps horses and above.
5/2 ante post Gold Cup favourite Kauto Star needs no introduction.

Ruby Walsh rode well at Cheltenham today to land a 36/1 double on Ofarel D'airy (7/2) in the 2.55 and Silver Charmer (7/1) in the 3.30.
Leg 1: Ofarel D'airy (7/2) Leg 2: Silver Charmer (7/1)
Ofarel D'airy outstayed Black Hills (8/1) under an enterprising ride by Ruby Walsh. Black Hills looked to have the race sewn up 2 out, but Ruby Walsh's mount stayed on well under pressure to claim the lead close home.
Silver Charmer (7/1) was quoted at 25/1 by the Press Association 2 days ago, had not run for 155 days, or won for 3 years, but still cruised home by 6 lengths in front of Christdalo (10/1) to please Ruby Walsh followers.
