Jockeys Kieren Fallon, Fergal Lynch, Darren Williams Cleared

Kieren Fallon has been cleared of race fixing. Former flat champion jockey (6 times) and his 5 co-defendants, which includes a couple of other jockeys Fergal Lynch and Darren Williams, have been cleared of conspiracy to defraud Betfair customers.

The trial, which began on 8 October at the Old Bailey, ended with Mr Justice Forbes directing the jury to find the six defendants not guilty.

The jury heard Fallon had a higher win rate in the races he was allegedly meant to throw than his average winning rate for other races.

The City of London police came under constant criticism during the case after it emerged the force had sought funding from the Jockey Club, who originally pushed for the investigation.
