Race Overview: Boomtown has a wonderful pedigree and should be watched in the betting, but a safer option could be Musical Charm, with Wotashirtful another newcomer to keep on the right side. The selection has shown plenty of promise in two races to date. She was staying on really strongly at the end of a Thirsk five furlong event last time out and should be suited by this longer trip. Many of Mark Johnston's juveniles have needed the first run and so Boomtown cannot be given the vote, but if well supported he may be worth a saver. Wotashirtful is a well bred son of Namid and hails from a yard well capable of getting one ready first time out. The market as usual will be all important here, but without that knowledge we have to side with Musical Charm.

Race Overview: A poor contest here and it should be easy for La Guancha to lose her maiden tag, Little Finch and Shipboard Romance could be the main rivals. David Baron's filly has shown promise in three races to date and doesn't look to have much to beat. She should be better suited by the extra furlong and is hard to oppose. Little Finch has managed a victory in this grade and wasnt beaten far behind Yes Meg last week and is the obvious danger. Shipboard Romance has shown abilty in slightly better company and should be watched for any market move. The same applies to the once raced Bonny's Babe, but La Guancha has the proven form and she gets our vote.

Race Overview: Satyricon gets the vote ahead of Rainbow Fox, Onatopp and Sea Rover. Satyricon has in the main been a consistent performer this year, reaching the frame three times from five starts, including when a close third behind Sweet Gale on Lingfield's Turf course seven-days ago. That was a big improvement on his initial effort on grass at Newmarket, and with a first-time visor now fitted, Marco Botti's colt should run a big race. Rainbow Fox is slipping down the handicap and shaped well at Leicester last time, but might find conditions too fast, while Onatopp shaped well from a wide draw when second at Thirsk eight days ago, and starts life in handicaps on a fair enough mark. Sea Rover was a creditable fifth in a class 3 event at York last time, considering that he was racing from 2lb out of the handicap, and in addition to being dropped in grade, he now tackles a trip more in keeping with his breeding. Mel Brittain's runner is expected to go well, but we will take him on with Satyricon.

Race Overview: Henry Bernstein is the pick over Kunte Kinteh, Greyfriars Abbey and Sofie Tucker. Henry Bernstein made a lot of the running when sixth of 13 at Newmarket last month, showing enough to indicate that a maiden is well within his compass. Granted, he is not one of Henry Cecil's big guns, and holds no fancy entries, but his recent work on the Al Bahathri gallops has been most encouraging. He gets the nod over Kunte Kinteh, a staying on second to Sweet Gale at Southwell last time. Greyfriars Abbey has not been since turning out on much softer ground at Musselburgh in November, and has a bit to prove, but will be produced as fit as possible by Mark Johnston, while Sofie Tucker is going the right way judged on her latest second to the long odds-on Costume at Ripon a week ago. She was flattered by her proximity to the winner, but is fully entitled to line up here. Tykie Two is the other worth a mention, given that Eoghan O'Neill's inmates generally improve a lot for a run, but we are happy to side with Henry Bernstein.

Race Overview: Il Castagno is the one for us ahead of Soccerjackpot, Will He Wish and Neon Blue in the day's feature event here. Bryan Smart has his team in good shape now, and will be more than hopeful of collecting with Il Castagno, especially now that his Catterick conqueror H Harrison has since bolted up at Musselburgh. Since then the selection has run another fine race in defeat when a close third at Thirsk after trying to make most of the running. Fancied then, he just needs a little luck to get the losses back. Soccerjackpot easily justified favouritism in a Beverley maiden last time and sneaks into his first handicap off bottom weight so has to be of interest as well. Will He Wish makes a quick reappearance after returning with a bang at Haydock at the weekend, and the 11-year-old should also not be ruled out of calculations, and along with Neon Blue, adds to what promises to be a close contest, and on in which Il Castagno makes most appeal.

Race Overview: Platinum Charmer can come out on top in the claimer, with Just Waz and Mystified other leading contenders. Platinum Charmer has not visited the winner's enclosure since landing a class 5 handicap at Musselburgh in 2005, but has been plying his trade in handicaps, gradually slipping down the weights in the process. Karl Burke has now decided to lower the seven-year-old's sights even further, and surely he will be able to take advantage. Just Waz is another that has been finding things hard, and has even been hurdling, while Mystified also had a spell timber-topping earlier in the year. Based on his last run over two miles at Musselburgh, Roger Fisher's inmate might just appreciate the slight drop back in trip, and could go close today. The market will be a pointer to the chances of the rest no doubt, but we return to Platinum Charmer as the answer.

Race Overview: Amanda Carter can follow up in the finale, with Bivouac, Ingleby Hill and The Mighty Ogmore others worth noting. Plenty can in fact be ruled out here, and we lean towards the only one with recent wining form in the shape of Amanda Carter. Richard Fahey's charge was stepped up in trip for her handicap debut at Carlisle eight days ago, and displayed abundant stamina in coming from off the pace to open her account. Also entered up at Sandown this coming Friday, she can pay to follow before the handicapper turns the screw. Bivouac now qualifies for handicaps after three educational outings and hails from a shrewd yard, while Ingleby Hill, who looked one to follow when a close second at Southwell on his return, has since failed here over a longer trip. The Mighty Ogmore meanwhile will do well to turn the tables on the selection based on Carlisle running, and Amanda Carter, a half-sister to plenty of winners, is very much the one to beat.
