Race Overview: A tricky start to proceedings for punters can go the way of La Chicaluna ahead of Suzi Spends and Welcome Return. James Given has his stable in decent form and his Cadeux Genereux filly holds the best form here. She stepped up on her debut run to finish second to Maze at Newcastle (Royal Ascot bound) and looks sure to relish the stiff finish today. A Mark Johnston newcomer always warrants respect and Suzi Spends should be watched in the market for support especially given her plum draw, whilst Welcome Return represents a shrewd yard. She ran well in defeat last time out and looks to be going the right way. Lake Sabina was well-fancied last time out but looked a bit one paced. Today's step up in trip looks ideal and she cannot be ruled out. Serena's Storm and Cryptonite Diamond are two more newcomers to consider, however La Chicaluna has a fair draw and can win at the third time of asking.

Race Overview: If Alambic is fit enough he could win as he has plenty of class, too much for some of these. However fitness must be taken on trust and therefore he cannot be backed at cramped odds. Course specialist Great As Gold goes on the shortlist along with Indonesia, and the last-named gets the nomination. Tim Walford's runner attracted plenty of market support on his reappearance at Newmarket and only narrowly failed to get up. He should have come on for that run and can win here as he stays well and the ground suits. Great As Gold could do with softer ground but he stays all day and if there at the turn for home it would be folly to count him out. Rocknest Island is 2lbs out of the handicap but isn't without a chance as he likes the ground and stays well, however of more interest may be Imperial Harry as he steps up in trip for the first time. There is no doubt that Alambic knows how to win but he was beaten at odds on when last seen and whilst he may have strengthened up since, he can be taken on today. Indonesia gets the nomination.

Race Overview: An intriguing contest can go to Fongs Gazelle. There appeared to be no fluke about Bogside Theatre's debut win at Newcastle (100-1 shot), however this mark of 82 looks stiff enough and he can be taken on, along with Pipe Dreamer. The selection didn't stay when tried over a mile and a half last time out and now drops back to the trip over which he recorded a hat-trick this spring. He has subsequently risen up the weights but this mark of 83 may not be enough to stop him getting his head back in front on ground that suits. El Decacy has won over course and distance so is another of interest now dropped in trip. New Beginning was flying at the finish on his latest start and if the race doesn't come too quick then he looks a real danger, whilst Pipedreamer enters handicaps on a mark of 85. To be frank, that looks high enough given the manner of his two runs so far although of course there is plenty of scope for improvement there. In truth, only Monsieur Dumas can be ruled out in this competitive handicap, and we will just side with Fongs Gazelle.

Race Overview: The last four renewals of this feature race have gone to favourites and likely favourite Expensive gets the nod to continue that sequence. Mont Etoile looks the main danger. Chris Wall's filly is fully effective on quick ground over this mile trip and ran fairly well in defeat last time out at Goodwood. There used to be slight stamina doubts for this mile trip but he won well on the all-weather when ridden prominently (under specialist orders from her trainer to determine fully whether she stays) and he looks the pick of these despite having a Listed winners penalty. Fann hasn't been sparkling of late and would prefer the heavens to open, whilst Mont Etoile returns from a lengthy break. He stays much further than this though so it could be a warm-up for future engagements. Neardown Beauty and Passion Fruit both have plenty to find at the weights, so of more interest may be Luca Cumani's Home Sweet Home. She ran well behind Makderah last year but needs to be fully wound up to take this one would think. Not the strongest renewal of the Pipalong Stakes and Expensive gets the nomination.

Race Overview: History shows that a traditionally good low draw isn't always advantageous and so with that in mind we will side with Paris Bell ahead of Maison Dieu, Brigadore and Franksalot. Those with a good low draw tend to go hell-for-leather early on in these big field handicaps which can play into the hands of those with a high draw and thus Paris Bell gets the nod. He doesn't tend to start too well and needs every yard of the trip to get on top. He is yet to race here at Ponte Carlo but the stiff finish should suit and he can come with a late burst to win. Brigadore has good course and distance form but handicaps himself with habitual slow starts. He, not unlike the selection, will need the gaps late on but he is now 5lbs below his highest winning mark so warrants respect. Front-runner Throw The Dice must be a danger from his low draw but tends to get collared late on, whilst Franksalot has disappointed since scoring at Beverley and Hamilton. He must be respected now back over six furlongs. Maison Dieu also drops back to six furlongs which looks a positive and Eric Alston's four-year-old may have more improvement to come. At a price, all-weather winner Minnow could go well but is unproven over this trip, and so we will return to Paris Bell as the selection.

Race Overview: Henry Hall has run well over course and distance before and can win today at the main expense of Polish Emperor, John Keats and Majestical. Now aged eleven, Henry Hall showed that he retains plenty of zest for racing when third at Catterick on Friday. The winner was long gone by then but he should be suited by the stiffer finish here at Pontefract. In his peak he would have blitzed these but he still retains ability and can run another good race at decent odds. Majestical won well at Wolverhampton three weeks ago but is yet to win in 22 starts on turf so can be opposed again. John Keats drops in trip which doesn't looks ideal as he can be sleeping in the stalls, however if it is going to work anywhere it will work here. Polish Emperor also drops in trip which will need to work the oracle as he has been out of form on his last two outings. Paddywack is a course and distance winner so warrants respect from this lowly mark on ground that suits. Divine Spirit and Viewforth are two more to consider, however old-timer Henry Hall gets the tentative vote to land his 11th victory.
